About this Fellowship
Highly competitive, portable fellowship that is awarded to U.S. citizens and nationals who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in one of fifteen supported STEM disciplines.
NDSEG fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to, an area of DoD interest within one of the following disciplines:
Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering; Biosciences; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences; Computer and Computational Sciences; Electrical Engineering; Geosciences; Materials Science and Engineering; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; Oceanography; Physics
Award Value
Three years of support, including full tuition and all mandatory fees, a monthly stipend ($40,800 annually), and up to $1400 in medical insurance.

Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
Provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields of study that use high performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems. $45,000 stipend, full tuition and fees, $1,000 annual travel allowance; renewable for up to 4 years. Also, recipients participate in a 12 week DoE practicum and yearly conferences.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
Awards for study and research in the sciences or in engineering leading to master's or doctoral degrees in the mathematical, physical, biological, engineering, behavioral and social sciences, and in the history and philosophy of sciences. Three-year annual stipend of $37,000, plus $16,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees, for students pursuing graduate education. Usable over 5 years.
