About this Fellowship
This program provides support for research for anyone who identifies as a woman conducting scientific research at any institution in the United States or abroad.
Deadlines are typically in January, but be sure to check the competition website for the current cycle’s deadline.
The GWIS fellowship supports research-related expenses (equipment, travel for fieldwork, compensation for study subjects, etc.) for a period of up to 12 months. It may not be used for tuition or living expenses.
Applications may be of various career levels, from graduate students to assistant professors. Applicants may be in the natural or social sciences as long as their research employs the scientific method and is hypothesis-driven. Applicants must be members of GWIS and be able to demonstrate financial need for research funding.
Award Value
Awardees receive up to $10,000 for research expenses.
