About this Fellowship

The Consortium for Faculty Diversity provides dissertation and postdoctoral residential fellowships that support fellows to research and teach at member institutions in the consortium.

The fellowship aims to increase the diversity of faculty in liberal arts colleges by providing fellows with experience teaching and researching at one of the more than 60 member institutions of the consortium.

Applicants must contribute to increasing the diversity of member colleges in one or more of the following ways: Increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximizing the educational benefits of diversity and/or increasing the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of students.

Dissertation fellows will be expected to teach the equivalent of one semester-long course during the academic year, participate in functions such as departmental seminars, and interact regularly with students. Postdoctoral fellowship recipients will be expected to teach up to 60% of a full-time faculty's course load at a host institution, participate in departmental seminars, and interact regularly with students.

Award Value

Fellows will receive compensation equivalent to the compensation of a starting one-year instructor at the host institution.
