Background

Colin Piacentine grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia until pursuing higher education and collegiate lacrosse in the southeast.

His professional experience includes sales, marketing, and media advertising. Having held multiple roles for organizations in different industries, he brings a multifaceted perspective to the class discussion.

Outside of the classroom, Placentine maintains an active lifestyle along coastal waters by his home in Charleston, South Carolina. When not at the beach or golf course, he enjoys paddleboarding and trips to the mountains with his wife and their Akita.


Research Interests

digital advertising affects; social media public discourse; how mass communication theories apply in new media.


Awards

Piacentine received the 2023 American Academy of Advertising Dissertation Award.  He will receive funding for his dissertation on  “Understanding Podcast Advertising Processing and Outcomes: An Analysis of Podcast Ad Types, Delivery Methods and Genres on Consumer Responses”.
