Research Partners

The following organizations support the conceptualization and execution of the BVIPD research project. They advise the research team on study design, development and accessibility of instruments and help monitor project outcomes through regular meetings organized at 2-4 months intervals. 

Able SC

Able SC is a disability-led organization seeking transformational changes in systems, communities, and individuals.   Their mission is to:

  • Equip people with disabilities with tools to foster pride and to direct their own lives;
  • Educate the community to challenge stereotypes and eliminate barriers; and
  • Advocate for access, equity, and inclusion at the individual, local, state, and national level. 

Digital Research Services

DRS supports data analysis and research data management plan.


EMMA is a project funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, in which several universities and large repositories are collaborating to create a service for sharing Educational Materials Made Accessible (EMMA) for those with print disabilities. 


The Library Accessibility Alliance (LAA) advocates for improving library e-resource accessibility. They are a multi-consortial organization, with each member organization contributing funding and expertise. Their mission is to empower libraries through collective action, building shared and collaborative community and responsibility and by providing a platform for knowledge sharing, centered on supporting library employees and patrons.

The main funding source for this project is from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) - grant # RE-254873-OLS-23.

The mission of IMLS is to advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development. The agency carries out its charge as it adapts to meet the changing needs of our nation’s museums and libraries and their communities.

IMLS’s mission is essential to helping these institutions navigate change and continue to improve their services
